Calgary man charged over alleged death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney
RCMP say a 31-year-old Calgary resident was arrested after police received information about alleged threats made through a YouTube account on July 28.

A Calgary man has been charged after allegedly making death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney through a YouTube account, RCMP say.
Police said they received information on July 28 about the alleged threats. They subsequently arrested Jamie Dacosta, 31, a Calgary resident, and charged him with uttering a threat to cause the death of the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The investigation was conducted by the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, or INSET, within RCMP Federal Policing’s Northwest Region. RCMP Federal Policing investigates criminal offences involving the security of internationally protected persons, as well as terrorism, espionage and cyber attacks.
In a news release, RCMP said the security environment for public figures continues to evolve in Canada and abroad and requires increased vigilance. Dacosta remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in a Calgary court on Sept. 15.
