A Canada Post outlet in East Vancouver is set to close before Christmas
The Little Italy outlet on Commercial Drive is scheduled to close permanently on Dec. 22, 2026. Canada Post says the dealer operating it decided to close the store, and the corporation is reviewing service options in the area.

The Canada Post outlet in Little Italy, at 1424 Commercial Dr., is set to close permanently on Dec. 22, 2026. Daily Hive was tipped off about the closure. A sign on the door lists the nearest outlets as 1755 Broadway Ave. and 2746 East Hastings St. The Broadway location is about a 15-minute walk away. The Hastings location is more than a 30-minute walk, just over a five-minute drive or about 20 minutes by transit. Vancouver has seen several post office closures since 2025, including the outlet at 418 Main St. in Chinatown and one in the Woodward’s building in Gastown.
Canada Post told Daily Hive that the dealer operating the outlet advised the corporation it was closing the store. The corporation said it is reviewing service requirements and assessing available options in the area. Once it confirms the closing date, it said, it will notify customers well in advance through its standard process.
Canada Post has made major changes over the past year, including ending door-to-door delivery in some regions. Earlier this year, the corporation announced that door-to-door delivery would end in parts of Metro Vancouver, affecting more than 40,000 addresses. At the time, it said converting dense urban core areas poses additional challenges and that those areas would be addressed in later stages of its multi-year conversion program.
When it announced the Metro Vancouver changes in April, Canada Post said its multi-year transformation would include modernizing retail. The postal operator said the changes were intended to protect the service. It said it was committed to proceeding thoughtfully, prioritizing service for all Canadians, preserving access to essential postal services in rural, remote and Indigenous communities, and treating employees with respect. More information about Canada Post’s changes is available on its website.
