Man charged after alleged stranger assault in East Vancouver

Vancouver police say a man has been charged after a woman was allegedly punched in the face in East Vancouver.

Police say the woman was walking near Hastings Street and Clark Drive at about 1:30 p.m. when she was confronted by a man and suffered a cut beneath her eye.

With help from a witness, officers located a man matching the suspect description a few blocks away. Kurtis Hummer, 36, is charged with assault causing bodily harm and is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
