The Langley Advance Times asked each candidate running for a seat in the B.C. Legislature on Oct. 24 to provide a basic profile for readers. Responses are grouped by riding and listed alphabetically. The newspaper said it hopes the guide will help readers decide whom to vote for in the 2026 provincial election.

**SHUBHAM JOSHI** is running with OneBC. A physiotherapist and clinical instructor in UBC’s Faculty of Medicine, he is 45 and lives in Cloverdale, on the Surrey-Langley border. He has lived in Langley for 17 years. He can be reached at Shubham.joshi@1bc.ca or through https://www.facebook.com/share/1MX8hF8VpZ/. Asked about the most important election issue, he outlined the party platform: a 25-per-cent cut to income and corporate taxes, repeal of SOGI 123 and DRIPA, a parallel private health-care system, and reopening mental health institutions to clean up local streets.

**ANDREW MERCIER** is running with the BC NDP and was the MLA for Langley from 2020 to 2024. The 41-year-old labour lawyer lives in Langley City and has lived in Langley all his life except for a few years at university. He can be reached at andrew.mercier@bcndp.ca. He said that, if re-elected, the government would continue investing in nurses and doctors, regulate gas prices and freeze ICBC rates. He said the Conservative plan would cut health care and double ICBC rates, adding, “We can’t afford to go back.”

**ANISHA SANDHU** is running with the BC Greens. The 27-year-old community development project manager and consultant lives in Langley City’s Nicomekl area and has lived in Langley for 4.5 years. She can be reached at anisha.sandhu@bcgreens.ca or on Instagram at anishasandhu_. She named affordability as the most important issue. People are working hard but still struggling with groceries, rent and everyday costs, she said. She added that she knows how discouraging it feels to do everything people were told would lead to stability and still wonder when they will get there.

**JODY TOOR** is running with the BC Conservative Party and has been the incumbent MLA for Langley-Willowbrook since 2024. She is 42 and previously worked as a holistic health practitioner. She can be reached at jody.too@conservativebc.ca or 604-418-9000. Toor said residents need practical action on affordability, public safety, mental health and housing. She said the issues are connected and families deserve solutions that improve everyday life, strengthen communities and ensure people can access the support they need.
