Surrey Schools holds trustee-election information session
Surrey Schools will host a one-hour Sept. 1 session for community members considering a run for school trustee in the 2026 general school election.

Surrey Schools has posted notice of an information session for community members considering a run for school trustee in the 2026 general school election. The one-hour session is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 1 in Room 205 of the Surrey school district’s Resource and Education Center, at 14123 92nd Ave.
The Board of Education of School District 36 normally has six trustees elected from the City of Surrey and one from the City of White Rock. Trustees set educational goals and priorities, approve related budgets, establish policy, plan for the district’s future and keep the community informed on education matters.
Under the School Act, trustees make public-education decisions on behalf of Surrey and White Rock residents. They govern collectively: decisions are debated and voted on at board meetings, and no individual trustee, committee or chairperson may act alone for the board. Professional staff, led by the superintendent, manage daily operations while the board focuses on governance and strategic direction.
Notices of nomination for Surrey School District trustee offices are available through the City of Surrey and City of White Rock links.
