Woman hospitalized after targeted shooting in Surrey’s East Clayton neighbourhood

A 50-year-old woman was taken to hospital after a targeted shooting in Surrey’s East Clayton neighbourhood Saturday morning, police say.

The Surrey Police Service said officers were called shortly after 8 a.m. to a home near 74 Avenue and 184 Street. The victim had already been transported to hospital with a gunshot wound to her arm when officers arrived, and the shooter had left the area.

Police say the victim was known to them and the shooting is believed to have been targeted, but not related to extortion. The SPS major crime section is investigating and collecting evidence in the area.
