The nomination period for Surrey’s civic election closed at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, beginning the campaign for the Oct. 17 vote. The city lists 100 candidates on surrey.ca/election: seven for mayor, 67 for city council and 26 for school trustee. That is 16 more candidates than the 84 listed on the ballot in Surrey’s 2022 civic election.

Surrey voters will elect a mayor, eight city councillors and six school trustees. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 52 locations across the city. Advance voting will be available Oct. 7, 10, 14 and 15 at 10 locations listed on surrey.ca. Voters are asked to bring identification and their voter card, which will be mailed in late September or early October.

The city uses Elections BC’s Provincial Voters List to create its list of eligible voters. Accessible options include curbside voting at all locations and mail-in voting. An interactive city map allows voters to find voting locations and check wait times.
