The first season of Carrie, filmed in Vancouver, is now available on Amazon Prime. Some cast members recently shared their favourite places in the city in an interview with Toronto influencer Sher Everywhere, who caught up with the crew at the Toronto International Film Festival. Those interviewed included Summer H. Howell, who plays the title character, horror actor Matthew Lillard and Alison Thornton.

Based on Stephen King’s classic novel of the same name, Carrie follows Carrie White, who develops psychic abilities after being bullied by her high school peers. The school was also located in Vancouver: Eric Hamber Secondary School.

Lillard praised Stanley Park, a frequently mentioned Vancouver spot, calling it “obviously amazing.” He added that “the walk along the water is fantastic,” likely referring to the seawall. He also said Vancouver “does feel like Hollywood North.”

Thornton said some of the cast went to the iconic Rio Theatre, which she called one of her favourite theatres. She also recommended Sing Sing on Commercial Drive and mentioned that she grew up in Vancouver.

Kate Siegel, who has appeared in several spooky TV shows, mentioned a place celebrities do not often talk about: Lions Bay. She said it is one of her favourite places to visit. Siegel also praised Main Street, naming “a series of great stores like Front & Co, Nouvelle Nouvelle.” She exclaimed, “Oh, I love Vancouver!” Howell echoed her with the same words.

Carrie began streaming a week ago and has received generally favourable reviews from fans and critics, according to Metacritic.
