Surrey council has directed staff to file notices on title for three properties where significant construction was completed without the required permits. The City says each property contains multiple unpermitted dwelling units, including one with six self-contained units and bedrooms rented individually.

The properties are at 12439 72 Ave., 6770 128B St. and 13050 Pekin Pl. Mayor Brenda Locke said the owners continued after repeated enforcement action and guidance from City staff, and that the units had not been inspected for safety.

A notice on title under Section 57 of the Community Charter alerts the public, including prospective purchasers, that structures were built without required permits and inspections. Suspected unpermitted construction can be reported to [email protected], by phone at 604-591-4370 or through Surrey’s online Report a Problem tool.
