Video shows impaired novice driver crash on Highway 1 in Langley
A 23-year-old Kamloops man failed a roadside screening after his Ford Ranger crashed on Highway 1, police say.

Langley RCMP has released dashcam video showing a Ford Ranger swerving, travelling on the shoulder and crashing on Highway 1 in Langley early Saturday.
Police said a witness following the truck near 264 Street called at about 3:30 a.m. As the witness relayed information to a police dispatcher, the Ranger struck a cement divider and came to rest on the highway shoulder.
Officers found the 23-year-old Kamloops man driving under an “N” novice licence appeared impaired and launched an impaired-driving investigation, police said. After he failed a roadside screening, police issued a 90-day driving prohibition, impounded the vehicle for 30 days and imposed a $500 fine.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak said the driver’s trip from Burnaby to Kamloops did not end in a fatality. Police urged anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired to call 911 immediately.
