Sandy Dosanjh removed as Surrey city council candidate after husband charged
The Conservative Party of Surrey says Dosanjh is no longer a 2026 candidate after her husband, a Vancouver Police detective, was charged with fraud, theft and breach of trust.

Sandy Dosanjh is no longer running for Surrey City Council in the 2026 municipal election, the Conservative Party of Surrey announced Sept. 4. She had been on the party’s slate with mayoral candidate Honveer Randhawa.
David Denhoff, president of the Conservative Electors Association and Conservative Party of Surrey, said she was removed as a candidate. He said Randhawa did not assign guilt to Sandy Dosanjh but concluded that the situation created a serious public-confidence issue. The party asked that her privacy be respected while she focuses on her family.
Her husband, Kalwinder (Kal) Singh Dosanjh, has served with the Vancouver Police Department for more than 25 years, including as a senior detective in the Financial Crimes Unit. He was charged Sept. 3 with four counts each of fraud and theft over $5,000, and breach of trust by a public officer.
The B.C. Prosecution Service says the alleged offences occurred between Dec. 8, 2017, and July 25, 2025, at or near Vancouver, Surrey and/or other locations in British Columbia. The allegations have not been proven in court. Police say most alleged victims are community members and investors of Dosanjh and co-accused Sarabjit Singh Gill, and that the charges relate to housing developments; some relate to KidsPlay, the foundation Dosanjh started in 2015.
