The City of Delta has appointed Dave Wood as the new chief of Delta Fire & Emergency Services.

Wood has served the people of Delta for more than 25 years and held several leadership roles with Delta Fire. He most recently served as acting fire chief after former chief Guy McKintuck retired earlier this year.

City Manager Peter Weeber said Wood is a skilled firefighter and community-minded leader who is committed to investing in a highly trained, diverse and efficient force. Weeber said he looks forward to working closely with Wood to help keep the city safe and prepared.

The city also recognized retired chief Guy McKintuck for his committed leadership and many years of service to Delta residents. A formal appointment ceremony for Wood is planned for later this fall.
