Langley Board of Education marks year-end progress and upcoming expansion
The Langley Board of Education thanked students, families and staff while highlighting reconciliation work, September classroom openings and continued planning for growing enrolment.
The Langley Board of Education is reflecting on the school year and thanking students, staff, families and community partners for their support, board chair Candy Ashdown said in a year-end message.
Ashdown said the board remains focused on its strategic plan and Framework for Enhancing Student Learning, as well as its work on truth and reconciliation. This year’s graduating class is the first to have spent all 13 years of schooling recognizing Orange Shirt Day, she said.
The board also pointed to enrolment growth across the district. New classrooms in the Langley Secondary addition are expected to be completed in September, while planning continues for an addition at R.E. Mountain Secondary that was announced in the spring.
While many employees take a summer break, staff will continue summer-session programming and prepare school sites for the return of students in September, the message said.
