Surrey police renew appeal two years after aggravated assault
Surrey Police Service is seeking witnesses and other information to advance its investigation into a 2024 park assault that left one man with severe brain and head injuries. Police have released images of a possible Dodge Durango that left before officers arrived.

Surrey Police Service (SPS) renewed its appeal for public assistance on Oct. 14, two years after an aggravated assault that left a victim with life-altering injuries. The incident happened at about 12:38 a.m. on Sept. 8, 2024, at a park near 120 Street and 70 Avenue in Surrey. Surrey RCMP officers responding to a disturbance report found two male victims who had been assaulted.
The victims were 18 and 22 at the time and were both taken to hospital. The younger man was treated for minor injuries and released. The older man suffered severe brain and head trauma, was placed on life-support and faced an uncertain medical outcome.
Surrey RCMP issued a news release and public appeal at the time, hoping witnesses and others involved would come forward. SPS says that appeal produced some information and evidence. SPS detectives are now asking for more help to advance the investigation and provide answers to the victim and his family. Police hope people will come forward just after the second anniversary, mindful of the seriousness of the victim’s injuries.
SPS investigators have also released two images of a possible suspect vehicle, a Dodge Durango that left the area before police arrived.
Anyone who was near 120 Street and 70 Avenue between midnight and 1 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, and has not spoken to police is asked to call SPS at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-7368 (SP) or 2024-134124 (SU).
