Canada joins European countries in pledge to ban Israeli settlement goods

Canada is joining the United Kingdom, France and other European partners in pledging to ban imports of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The countries are condemning Israel for enabling settler violence and for efforts to expand settlements widely understood to be illegal under international law. Israeli President Isaac Herzog said the move amounts to interference in his country’s ongoing national election.
