Seventy law enforcement officers run through White Rock, Surrey and Delta in rainy memorial event
Seventy officers are taking part in the three-day Run to Remember from Abbotsford to Victoria, raising funds for the B.C. Law Enforcement Memorial.

Seventy law enforcement officers are participating in the three-day Run to Remember from Abbotsford to Victoria, held Sept. 24 to 26. Now in its eighth year, the memorial event honours officers who made the “ultimate sacrifice.”
On Day 2, a rainy Friday, the runners travelled under police escort from White Rock through Surrey to Tsawwassen in Delta. The route included stops at the pier and Mud Bay Park for lunch, followed by a run along the dyke to the region’s southwest corner.
According to r2rwestcoast.ca, each day covers 135 kilometres—one kilometre for each fallen officer in B.C. Proceeds support the B.C. Law Enforcement Memorial.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, members of the public can join the final 11 kilometres in Victoria to the BC Law Enforcement Memorial Bastion. Registration is available through eventbrite.com.
The R2R Westcoast event is part of the National Peace Officers Memorial Run, established in 2005 by The Pacers, a Peel Regional Police running team. The team sought to raise awareness of the annual Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Service on Parliament Hill in Ottawa while paying tribute to officers who gave their lives serving their communities and country.
