Surrey tourism-value survey for business owners closes Sept. 15
A City of Surrey-led study is seeking business input on tourism’s economic contribution and future investment, marketing and planning priorities.

City of Surrey, Discover Surrey and the Surrey Hotel and Motel Association have launched a Value of Tourism and Strategic Tourism Development Study, asking how Surrey can become a stronger destination for visitors, residents and investment.
Business owners can complete the survey at surveymonkey.com by Sept. 15. The website says it takes less than 10 minutes, responses are confidential and will be reported only in aggregate, and participants are invited to share their experiences and perspectives.
The partners are working with Nordicity and Happy Cities. A news release says the research will quantify tourism’s economic contribution to Surrey and identify opportunities to strengthen tourism planning and investment across the destination.
The input is intended to inform future tourism investments, destination marketing strategies, business-support initiatives and long-term tourism planning in Surrey. Discover Surrey executive director Angeline Chew is serving as a strategic advisor.
After the survey, stakeholders may take part in September focus-group sessions on tourism opportunities, challenges and priorities for Surrey’s future. Participants will receive dates and registration details.
Discover Surrey is Surrey’s destination marketing organization. It operates independently as a not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer board representing several tourism-industry sectors.
