Surrey mayor issues statement on vandalism at Fleetwood Islamic Centre

Surrey’s mayor has condemned hateful messages and threats directed at the Fleetwood Islamic Centre following an incident of vandalism.

The mayor said efforts to intimidate people because of their faith undermine the safety and sense of belonging every resident deserves. She said she stands with the Muslim community and members of the Fleetwood Islamic Centre.

The mayor thanked the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit for investigating the incident to hold those responsible accountable.
