Bear Creek Lights returns Nov. 6 with more displays and a longer route

Surrey’s Bear Creek Lights returns Nov. 6 to 20 with its largest display yet, featuring 25 per cent more light displays and an expanded walking route. The event, now in its 14th year, offers visitors new ways to experience Bear Creek Park after dark. Highlights include the returning 40-foot Starlight Tunnel and the Giant Bear display. Guided nature walks, storytime and live performances are planned on select nights. Food trucks including Little oOtie’s Mini Donuts, Japadog, and Rotato & Potato will also be on site.

Laurie Cavan, the City’s general manager of parks, recreation and culture, said Bear Creek Lights has become a favourite Surrey tradition and one of the city’s most popular seasonal park events. Admission is free, offering families and friends a way to enjoy the lights together before the holidays. More than 60,000 people visited last year, and Cavan strongly recommends booking tickets in advance.

Free timed-entry tickets will be available starting Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. Entry slots are offered every 30 minutes from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Drop-in availability will be limited, especially on weekends.

The event will run rain or shine, subject to extreme weather, and will be closed Nov. 11 for Remembrance Day. Guest parking is available off 88 Avenue.
