Trump criticizes Canada on drugs but leaves it off major drug-producer list
U.S. President Donald Trump again accused Canada of failing to do enough on drugs, while excluding it from an annual list of major drug-producing countries.

U.S. President Donald Trump again accused Canada of not doing enough to curb drugs, but did not include the country in an annual list of nations deemed major drug producers. The list names Afghanistan, China, Colombia, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico and other countries.
In a declaration submitted to Congress, Trump praised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration for efforts to stop drug flows and shut down labs, while saying Mexico and Canada still need to do more. He alleged fentanyl is made in clandestine Canadian labs and moved south into the United States, and claimed Chinese gangs are operating along the border.
U.S. government data show a minuscule volume of drugs is seized at the northern border compared with the boundary with Mexico. Trump cited fentanyl last year when imposing tariffs on Canada; the U.S. Supreme Court later struck down those duties.
