Community cleanup collects about 10 bags of trash near Bridgeport SkyTrain Station
Dozens of volunteers joined a Sept. 13 cleanup near Richmond’s Bridgeport SkyTrain Station, collecting roughly 10 bags of trash with support from the city’s Partners for Beautification initiative.

Dozens of volunteers collected roughly 10 bags of trash during a community cleanup near Richmond’s Bridgeport SkyTrain Station on Sept. 13.
Members of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) joined other volunteers in the effort, which was supported by the City of Richmond’s Partners for Beautification initiative.
FFWPU member and cleanup volunteer Chong Hwa CostaAzevedo said the initiative was intended both to help keep the area clean and to share a message of love, peace and care with the wider community.
CostaAzevedo said the work is rooted in the principle of “living for the sake of others,” a core value emphasized by the federation and its spiritual leader, Hak Ja Han. The group hopes practical acts of service can demonstrate that small activities can become meaningful steps toward peace when people come together and care for their community.
