Tony Ward is running again for one of the two City seats on the Langley Board of Education, this time with the Langley Strong slate. If elected, he would serve a third term. He was elected in 2018 and acclaimed in 2022, when there were only two candidates for the City. The board serves all of Langley: five trustees are elected in the Township, and two separately in the City.

Ward said he was pleased with the new schools and expansions approved during his time on the board, but wants attention paid to City facilities. In a statement announcing his candidacy, he said building new schools cannot mean forgetting existing ones. Langley City has older facilities that need attention and investment, and he said he would continue to make sure City students and families remain a priority.

The largest City project during the last term was an eight-classroom addition to Nicomekl Elementary, rather than a new school. It was one of several modular projects built or planned around Langley.

Ward also said he would continue to support choice programs in the district, including French Immersion, Fundamental schools, Montessori, Fine Arts and other options. He described choice as more than a frill, saying it can help a student find their place. His third major priority is ensuring the board is accountable for its budget. Langley Strong candidates will contest school board seats in both the City and Township.
