Vancouver releases ballot order for 130 municipal election candidates
Vancouver’s municipal ballot includes 130 candidates for mayor, council, park board and school board positions, with advance voting beginning Oct. 3 and election day set for Oct. 17.

Vancouver residents will elect a new mayor, council, park board and school board in next month’s municipal election. The ballot has 130 candidates: eight for mayor, 56 competing for 10 council seats, 35 seeking seven seats on the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, and 31 running for nine Vancouver School Board trustee positions.
The city uses a draw to set a random ballot order, intended to prevent candidates whose surnames begin earlier in the alphabet from gaining an advantage near the top of the ballot. Each candidate is also assigned a number to help voters find their preferred choice.
Advance voting for the 2026 municipal election begins Saturday, Oct. 3, when 59 polling places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Further advance voting days are Wednesday, Oct. 7; Saturday, Oct. 10; and Tuesday, Oct. 13. Residents can request a vote-by-mail package through the city’s website or by calling 311.
Election day is Saturday, Oct. 17. Eighty-five polling places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day.
