Trial set for man charged in fatal 2024 White Rock stabbing
Jury selection is scheduled for May 2027 for a Surrey man charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault in two White Rock promenade stabbings.

A trial date has been set for Dimitri Nelson Hyacinth, the Surrey man charged in connection with the April 2024 stabbing death of 26-year-old Kulwinder Singh Sohi on White Rock’s waterfront promenade.
Hyacinth was charged with second-degree murder on May 3, 2024, following Sohi’s death after the April 23 stabbing. He also faces an aggravated-assault charge connected with the April 21 stabbing of Jatinder Singh, 28, on the same promenade. Singh survived after being treated in hospital for a serious neck injury.
Jury selection is scheduled for May 20, 2027. The trial is set to begin May 31, 2027, in New Westminster Supreme Court and is expected to last about three weeks, according to the B.C. Prosecution Service.
Hyacinth’s next court appearance is Sept. 3 in New Westminster for a scheduling matter. None of the allegations has been proven in court.
