Northwest Marine Drive at Spanish Banks to close July 27 through Sept. 30
Northwest Marine Drive beside Spanish Banks Beach will close for more than two months while crews replace a culvert at Spanish Banks Creek.

Northwest Marine Drive along Spanish Banks Beach in Vancouver will be fully closed from July 27 to Sept. 30 for culvert replacement work, the Ministry of Transportation says.
Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The ministry says replacing the culvert at Spanish Banks Creek will improve fish passage and address damage and sediment buildup associated with the November 2021 atmospheric river.
Traffic will be detoured via West 4th Avenue and Chancellor Boulevard. The ministry is asking travellers to allow extra time, particularly during peak periods.
Spanish Banks Beach sits between the University of British Columbia and Vancouver’s Point Grey neighbourhood and is a popular summer destination. The ministry did not announce alternate parking arrangements during the closure.
