Richmond RCMP seek public help to identify suspect in June assault

Richmond RCMP are asking the public to help identify a suspect in an assault earlier this summer. Police say a woman was walking on Greenland Drive near No. 5 Road at about 7:30 p.m. on June 28 when an unknown man on a bicycle approached her.

The woman was assaulted and the suspect fled, police said. The suspect is described as a man about 30 to 40 years old, of medium build, with black hair and a black moustache. He was wearing sunglasses, a green T-shirt and grey shorts.

Anyone who was in the area between 7:15 and 7:45 p.m. and may have seen a cyclist matching that description is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and refer to file 2026-20373. Police are also seeking dashcam or residential security-camera footage from the area.

Cpl. Melissa Lui asked anyone who saw something unusual or has relevant video to contact investigators, saying even seemingly minor information could help advance the investigation.
