Delta School District reminds families of e-scooter and e-bike rules
Students should not use e-scooters to travel to school or on school grounds, while B.C. regulations set age limits for e-scooter and e-bike use.

Delta School District is reminding students and their families about provincial rules for electric kick scooters, or e-scooters, and e-bikes. Students should not use e-scooters when travelling to school or while on school grounds.
E-scooters remain illegal on public roads, bike lanes and sidewalks across most of B.C., despite their popularity. Exceptions apply in a small number of communities participating in a pilot program testing their use; the City of Delta is not part of that program. In pilot communities, operating an electric kick scooter is illegal for anyone under 16 and may lead to a fine.
B.C. law also prohibits students under 14 from riding e-bikes. Students may operate light e-bikes at 14 and standard e-bikes at 16. Parents or guardians must not knowingly allow a student below the minimum age to ride an e-bike. The district encouraged families to review information defining light and standard e-bikes, as well as Fraser Health’s What Every Parent Needs to Know about E-scooters.
