Bruno Mars lends his voice to SkyTrain announcements during five-show run
Bruno Mars has recorded two romantic messages for SkyTrain announcements at Stadium-Chinatown Station on the days of his five BC Place concerts, Oct. 14, 16, 17, 20 and 21. TransLink says he is the first music artist featured in its announcements; the promotion generates advertising revenue through Warner Music Canada.

People travelling through downtown Vancouver on SkyTrain this week and next may hear a new voice over the public-address system. Pop star Bruno Mars is playing five shows at BC Place on Oct. 14, 16, 17, 20 and 21. On concert days, his recorded announcements will play at Stadium-Chinatown Station.
Mars recorded two affectionate messages to match the theme of his Romantic Tour. In the first, he says: “To everybody taking the train, it’s Bruno Mars. It’s about to get real romantic tonight. I love you.” The second begins the same way and adds: “Thank you so much for coming to the Romantic Tour. I hope to see you all very soon. I love you.”
Celebrity voices, including actor Seth Rogan and soccer legend Christine Sinclair, have appeared in SkyTrain announcements before. TransLink says Mars is the first music artist to do so. The promotion generates advertising revenue for the transit agency through Warner Music Canada.
“Most people don’t expect to hear Bruno Mars while they’re heading to work, school, or a concert. That’s what makes this so much fun, because it brings the concert experience to SkyTrain customers,” TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said in a news release Wednesday. He called it a unique way to brighten someone’s trip while generating additional revenue to support transit service across the region.
Mars’ mini-residency at BC Place sets a record for the most shows at the stadium during a single tour. Taylor Swift performed there for three nights on her Eras Tour last year.
