Seafood products sold at Loblaw stores recalled over undeclared mustard
The CFIA says two shrimp products sold nationwide may trigger allergic reactions because they contain mustard that is not declared on the label. Consumers should not use, sell, serve or distribute them.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says Loblaw Companies Limited has recalled two seafood products sold nationwide because they contain undeclared mustard, which could cause an allergic reaction. The products are SeaQuest Shrimp Ring with Mild Cocktail Sauce and President’s Choice Black Tiger Shrimp with Mild Cocktail Sauce.
The President’s Choice product is 568 g, UPC 0 60383 18048 5, with best-before dates 2026 OC 06 and 2026 OC 07. The SeaQuest product is 454 g, UPC 0 60383 18047 8, with best-before dates 2026 NO 05, 2026 NO 06, 2026 NO 26, 2026 NO 27, 2027 MR 04, 2027 AL 27, 2027 MA 07, 2027 JN 10, 2027 JN 11, 2027 JN 15 and 2027 JL 13.
The CFIA warns consumers not to use, sell, serve or distribute the products. The recall is classified as Class 2, meaning there is a moderate risk that consuming the food could cause short-term or non-life-threatening health problems. People affected by the recall can file a report with the Government of Canada. For more information, contact the CFIA at 1 (613) 773-2342 or information@inspection.gc.ca.
Other nationwide food recalls have also been issued recently. A popular hot pepper paste was recalled because of undeclared wheat; people with a wheat allergy, celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders should not consume it. So Delicious Dairy-Free Salted Caramel frozen dessert was also recalled over the possible presence of plastic-like and gravel-like pieces.
