Essence of Four reunites for South Surrey exhibition
Natural Curiosities 2026 brings pottery, watercolour, mixed-media and digital work to Crescent Beach Community Gallery through Sept. 13.

Essence of Four has reunited for Natural Curiosities 2026 at Crescent Beach Community Gallery, 12160 Beecher St. The exhibition continues through Sept. 13 and features four South Surrey-White Rock women artists working in distinct media.
The show includes pottery by Ayoe Ingemann Lai, watercolours by Ramona Radu, mixed-media work by Karin Hatch and digital art by Jasmina Charleston. The City of Surrey-owned gallery presents a different exhibition each month.
Charleston said the group is staging Natural Curiosities for a second year and has benefited from working together as emerging artists. Lai is a member of Semiahmoo Potters, Radu is known for light-infused landscapes, and Hatch combines photography and textiles.
Charleston began pursuing fine art three years ago after selling flora and fauna drawings as stationery at local markets. Her whale image was selected for the City of White Rock’s 2026 street-banner program in Five Corners, and another piece placed second in the Arts 2026 juried exhibition facilitated by Surrey Art Gallery and the Arts Council of Surrey. The gallery is open Wednesday to Friday from 2 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
