Surrey Police union agreement adds $14.283M in pay over four years
The Surrey Police Board and Surrey Police Union deal runs from 2025 through 2028 and includes 4.25 per cent and four per cent general increases in its final two years.

The Surrey Police Board and Surrey Police Union have reached a four-year collective agreement they say will provide labour and cost certainty during a significant period in the Surrey Police Service transition. The agreement runs from Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2028.
A joint statement says the general wage increase for 2025 and 2026 is in line with other municipal police departments. General increases are set at 4.25 per cent for 2027 and four per cent for 2028. The deal is aligned with the police board’s costing mandate to maintain parity with Vancouver Police wage and benefit improvements negotiated in fall 2025.
The total increase is about $14.283 million, or 13 per cent of baseline wages, and was included in the 2026 operating budget. The statement says the settlement will support the service’s assumption of policing responsibility in Guildford/Fleetwood, recruitment and retention of experienced officers and recruits, and the transition to a new Chief Constable.
Union president Ryan Buhrig, police board chair Perm Jawanda and Mayor Brenda Locke welcomed the agreement. Locke said it recognizes officers’ work keeping Surrey safe and supports continued development of a strong municipal police service.
