Lightning storm sparks small wildfires in B.C.’s Okanagan

A lightning storm swept through B.C.’s Okanagan and Kootenay regions Thursday night, producing dramatic strikes around Osoyoos and Oliver.

Video submitted to CTV News included a dash-cam recording that appeared to show lightning striking a power pole.

The Anarchist Mountain Fire Department urged residents to watch for smoke and call 911 if they see any. Several small wildfires appear to have been sparked during the storm, though all were under one hectare as of late Friday morning.
