Source says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could visit Canada next week
The visit’s timing is being adjusted and may be affected by Norway’s King Harald’s Sept. 9 funeral, according to a non-government source.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is planning to visit Canada as soon as next week, according to a non-government source.
The source said the exact timing is being adjusted, possibly because of the funeral for Norway’s King Harald, scheduled for Sept. 9 in Oslo. Both governments generally do not confirm Zelenskyy’s travel until the days immediately before departure, and the source said he may visit more than one province.
Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Kyiv a year ago. Zelenskyy last visited Canada in Halifax last December as efforts continued to end Russia’s full-scale invasion.
MPs from across party lines have placed Ukraine at the centre of their foreign-policy platforms, and Canada has joined an agreement to learn from Ukrainian drone producers. Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand is preparing to host a Toronto summit later this month on the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russian officials.
