Mexican citizen charged in 1996 killing of Vancouver woman
Juan Manuel Rueda Salud, 68, has been charged with second-degree murder in the 1996 death of Vancouver postal worker Muriel Lindsay.

A 68-year-old Mexican citizen has been charged with second-degree murder in the 1996 death of Vancouver woman Muriel Lindsay.
Vancouver police allege Juan Manuel Rueda Salud killed Lindsay on or about Feb. 16, 1996. Lindsay was 40 and worked for Canada Post on Georgia Street at the time of her death.
Police said Rueda Salud was identified as a person of interest but left for Mexico in March 1996. Investigators located him in Oaxaca in 2015 and later identified him as a suspect through a lengthy investigation involving Mexican, American and Canadian agencies and BCIT forensic partners.
He was charged on Nov. 2, 2024, arrested in Mexico on Jan. 22, 2025, and became eligible for extradition to Canada on July 15 after appealing the extradition order. Vancouver investigators escorted him back to the city this week, where he remains in custody.
