Ottawa City Council unanimously approves renaming Trump Avenue
Ottawa councillors approved renaming the residential street named after Donald Trump more than 20 years ago; residents will help choose its replacement name.

Ottawa City Council unanimously agreed on Sept. 23 to rename Trump Avenue, a residential street named after current U.S. President Donald Trump more than 20 years ago.
River Ward Coun. Riley Brockington introduced the motion on Sept. 9 without proposing a replacement name. A public consultation will be held so local residents can weigh in on a new name. Brockington said he wants the community to select and recommend the name to council, but did not say when the consultation will begin.
Trump Avenue is in the Central Park neighbourhood, where other streets reference New York City, including Madison Park, Manhattan Crescent and Staten Street. Residents may choose another New York-themed name or a different name altogether.
