Loaded handgun seized near Surrey Central SkyTrain Station, Transit Police say
Transit Police say a 31-year-old Vancouver man was arrested near Surrey Central SkyTrain Station and charged after officers found a loaded 9 mm handgun and ammunition.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police say officers seized a loaded 9 mm handgun and additional ammunition during an arrest near Surrey Central SkyTrain Station on Aug. 13.
The Crime Suppression Team was patrolling the area at about 5 p.m. when officers stopped a vehicle and arrested a 31-year-old man. Police say he had outstanding warrants and was allegedly breaching conditions from an earlier release order.
The Vancouver resident faces seven firearms-related charges, as well as allegations of breaching a release order and obstructing a peace officer. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 24.
Transit Police spokesperson Const. Sunny Kainth said the seizure removed a dangerous weapon from a busy transit hub and underscored the role of proactive patrols.
