More than 1,000 runners are expected in Surrey City Centre on Saturday, Sept. 12, for this year’s RunSurreyRun. The event includes a kids’ run, 5K and 10K road races, and a virtual event.

The annual run welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, from walkers to elite runners, and promotes active living and family fun. Its festival hub will be at Holland Park from 8 a.m. to noon.

Registration closes at midnight Thursday, Sept. 10, and race-day registration will not be available. The 5K and 10K courses are now certified by Athletics Canada, while the Central City 1K Kids Run has expanded to 100 participants for 2026.

Both race routes begin at 134 Street and finish at Holland Park, extending north to 108 Avenue and south to 97 Avenue. Course maps, volunteer registration, race results and other details are available on the event website.

Surrey realtor Gurjinder K. Bhurji founded RunSurreyRun in 2019 after taking up walking and jogging while recovering from ill health. A post on runsurreyrun.com says the event aims to be a sustainable and inclusive annual run-and-walk event that encourages healthy living in Surrey’s diverse community.
