Canadian visits to Florida fell more sharply than the state’s overall tourism numbers during the first half of 2026, according to Visit Florida. The state recorded an estimated 73.5 million visitors, down 1.4 per cent from the same period a year earlier.

About 1.68 million Canadian travellers visited Florida between January and June, a 13.9 per cent year-over-year decline. That is roughly 610,000 fewer visitors than in 2019, leaving Canadian travel to the state about 27 per cent below its pre-pandemic level.

Statistics Canada has described a persistent shift away from U.S. travel among Canadians. The agency said leisure travel to the United States declined sharply in 2025 while overseas travel increased.

The report says strained Canada-U.S. relations may be one factor, alongside airfare, fuel surcharges, exchange rates and tighter household budgets. Florida nevertheless remained a major destination overall, receiving 143.3 million visitors in 2025.
