Overpass demolition will affect traffic in Langley
Highway 1 traffic will be rerouted and ramps closed at 232 Street on two September weekends as crews demolish the old overpass.

The provincial Ministry of Transportation and Transit says traffic patterns on Highway 1 in Langley will change on two September weekends while crews demolish the old 232 Street overpass. The changes will affect the stretch between 248 Street and Glover Road.
From 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 until about 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 13, westbound traffic will be diverted into the eastbound lanes. Both westbound ramps at the 232 Street interchange will be closed.
A second traffic change is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 to 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 20. Eastbound traffic will be diverted into the westbound lanes. The eastbound off-ramp at the 232 Street interchange will close, while the eastbound on-ramp will remain open.
The speed limit will be reduced to 80 km/h. Drivers are asked to use caution, follow signs and traffic-control crews, and watch for road workers. Timing may change with weather conditions, the ministry said.
The work is part of the ongoing project to widen Highway 1 to six lanes east from 216 Street to Abbotsford. It includes replacing and upgrading Langley’s remaining aging overpasses at 232 Street and 264 Street. The Glover Road overpass was replaced and opened in 2024, and work on a nearby rail overpass was also scheduled to begin this summer.
