Richmond RCMP seek suspect in suspicious restaurant fire
Police are asking the public to identify a man seen on video near a suspicious March fire that damaged a restaurant patio on Sexsmith Road.

Richmond RCMP are asking for help identifying a suspect in a suspicious fire at a restaurant in the 2800 block of Sexsmith Road.
Police received the report in the early hours of March 3, 2026. Richmond Fire-Rescue was already at the scene and quickly controlled the fire. It caused significant exterior damage, particularly to the restaurant's patio area, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators say surveillance video shows an unidentified man in a hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans carrying a backpack. One camera angle appears to show him using an object that produced a flame to ignite a plastic awning curtain before walking away.
Police ask anyone with video, photographs or other information—including people who discussed the incident on social media—to contact Richmond RCMP directly at 604-278-1212 and quote file 2026-6800.
