Veterans honoured on Richmond street banners
Richmond and the Royal Canadian Legion’s Richmond Branch 291 have selected 114 veterans for individual banners installed in the City Centre area. The display runs until Dec. 1, 2026, and recognizes people who served in the Canadian Armed Forces or RCMP and lived in Richmond.

As Remembrance Day approaches, the City of Richmond and the Royal Canadian Legion’s Richmond Branch 291 are inviting the community to reflect on local veterans who served Canada through the inaugural Veterans Street Banner Program. A total of 114 veterans were selected for individual street banners, now installed throughout the City Centre area. The banners honour people who served Canada with courage and dedication.
The banners will remain on display until Dec. 1, 2026, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to learn about and remember local veterans’ contributions. Eligible veterans were chosen from nominations submitted by Richmond residents. They served in the Canadian Armed Forces or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and lived in Richmond.
The City says the program reflects Richmond’s commitment to honouring local veterans’ service and contributions and to keeping their stories visible in the community. Residents can view the banners throughout the City Centre area during the display period.
