Oak Street near Vancouver General Hospital to close for construction
A two-block section of Oak Street will close around the clock from Thursday through Sept. 22 to support crane work during Vancouver General Hospital operating-room expansion.

A two-block section of Oak Street near Vancouver General Hospital will close to traffic starting Thursday, with drivers warned to expect delays.
The City of Vancouver says Oak Street between West 10th and West 12th avenues will be closed 24 hours a day until Sept. 22. The closure will support crane activity during an expansion of the hospital’s operating rooms.
Access for residents, businesses and health services will be maintained. Traffic-control personnel will be on site to assist the public and maintain intersections outside the closure. People travelling to nearby Vancouver General Hospital facilities are urged to take another route and allow extra travel time.
Drivers can expect detours and parking restrictions. Oak Street sidewalks may be intermittently inaccessible, while cyclists using the 10th Avenue bikeway are asked to follow posted signs and use caution. Transit users should watch for bus-route changes.
