Abbotsford police investigate vehicle shooting and possible link to SUV fire
No injuries were reported after a late-night shooting on McCallum Road; investigators are examining whether a nearby SUV fire is connected.
Abbotsford police are investigating after shots were fired at a vehicle late Saturday night in an incident investigators believe was targeted.
The Abbotsford Police Department, or AbbyPD, received reports shortly after 11 p.m. of a shooting on McCallum Road between Switzer Avenue and Braun Avenue. Officers confirmed a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported.
Soon afterward, police responded to a vehicle fire on Sunnyside Place near Sunnyside Crescent, where they found an SUV fully engulfed in flames. Police have not confirmed whether the burned SUV is connected to the shooting, but are investigating a possible link.
Police say a dark-coloured SUV was involved in the shooting. AbbyPD’s Major Crime Unit has assumed the investigation and is working to determine the motive. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
