Surrey to hold public hearings on bylaw amendments for proposed Clayton townhouses

Surrey council will hold public hearings beginning at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 on proposed bylaw amendments for two potential townhouse developments on 74th Avenue in Clayton. One site comprises 18702, 18726 and 18738 74th Avenue, across from Regent Road Elementary School; the other is at 19094 74th Avenue near 192nd Street.

The first proposal seeks 166 townhouse units across three lots and the conveyance of one park lot to the City of Surrey. It would change the official community plan land-use designation from Urban III to Urban II and rezone the properties from Acreage Residential Zone (RA) to High Density Townhouse Zone (MR4). A development variance permit would amend setbacks and the permitted proportion of back-to-back units.

The second proposal seeks a 25-unit townhouse project. It would change the official community plan land-use designation from Urban I to Urban II and rezone the site from Acreage Residential Zone (RA) to a high-density townhouse zone. Its development variance permit seeks changes related to setbacks, permitted risers and parking.
