Free Carnival of Giving fundraiser planned at Richmond mall this weekend
The two-day Lansdowne Centre event will offer health checks, games, a marketplace and performances while raising money for Richmond Hospital’s new Acute Care Tower.

A free, two-day carnival-style fundraiser will take place at Richmond’s Lansdowne Centre this weekend, pairing complimentary health checkups with games, live entertainment and a community marketplace.
The Carnival of Giving runs Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Lansdowne’s Kiosk Court. Organizers hope to raise $100,000 for the new Richmond Hospital Acute Care Tower through Richmond Hospital Foundation’s Power Up Campaign.
The organizers are Cheryl Kwok of Cheryl Kwok Notary Public, Kelly Mo of Hanbi Events and Win Lui of Win Lui Group. Kwok said community events can bring people together and encourage acts of kindness.
Visitors can expect classic carnival rides, a race-car simulator, claw machines, face painting, crafts, balloon twisting and tarot readings. The marketplace will include 40 businesses and organizations, while health checks will be available throughout the event.
Featured guests include actor and broadcaster Anita Lee, award-winning singer and actor Fred Cheng, 2022 Mrs. World Global champion Peggy Davies and former Miss Hong Kong second runner-up Lorretta Chow.
Mo said the event is intended to let families enjoy entertainment while supporting a meaningful cause. Lui said support from sponsors, vendors and volunteers has been encouraging despite challenging economic conditions for many families and business owners.
