Coquitlam RCMP are investigating a wildfire in Belcarra Regional Park that prompted the tactical evacuation of two homes near Anmore and evacuation alerts for 35 others.

The fire grew to about 1.5 hectares before it was largely contained Thursday. The B.C. Wildfire Service has classified it as human-caused and says it is being held.

Police are asking people who were in the area between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 5, particularly near Sugar Mountain Trail, to provide any photos or video. They are also seeking information about suspicious activity or anything else relevant to the cause of the fire.

Forty firefighters worked on the blaze, while Metro Vancouver said helicopter bucketing helped speed containment. Anyone with information can contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-155.
