Two Richmond elementary schools to add before- and after-school care spaces
City Centre Elementary and Kathleen McNeely Elementary are each expected to gain 30 care spaces under provincially approved projects due for completion by March 31, 2027.

Two Richmond elementary schools are expected to add before- and after-school care spaces next spring. Richmond school trustees approved care space projects for the new City Centre Elementary and Kathleen McNeely Elementary at their Wednesday meeting.
The Ministry of Infrastructure approved two child-care capital projects for the Richmond School District through the new School Age Care on School Grounds program. Each school will create 30 spaces, using existing school space either directly through the district or through third-party non-profit providers.
The ministry is allocating $14,850 to City Centre Elementary and $27,900 to McNeely Elementary, for a total of $42,750. The district amended its capital bylaw at Wednesday’s meeting, as required to receive the funding. Both projects are expected to be completed by March 31, 2027.
