Preliminary results released for Burnaby’s general local election
Burnaby reports 50,336 votes in its general local election, representing more than 29 per cent of eligible voters and the highest participation in the city’s municipal election history. Official results are expected by 4 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2026.
Preliminary results released by the City of Burnaby show that 50,336 votes were cast in the general local election, representing more than 29 per cent of eligible voters. The city says this is the highest number of people to participate in a municipal election in Burnaby’s history. The preliminary figures are based on ballot accounts from voting places, advance voting opportunities and mail ballots. The declaration of official results will be available by 4 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2026.
Mayoral candidates received the following valid votes: Mike Hurley, 28,946; Heymann Yip, 9,250; Hanzhi Wang, 3,345; Bill Petrovas, 3,221; MichaelAngelo Abcrobinhood, 2,550; and Sabina Hsu, 2,224.
