Vancouver-area home sales fall 4.6 per cent in August
Greater Vancouver Realtors reported 1,869 sales in August, well below the seasonal norm, as slower sales and lower inventory continued to push prices downward.

Home sales across the Greater Vancouver region fell 4.6 per cent in August from a year earlier, extending a slowdown that began in May and is expected to continue through the end of 2026.
Greater Vancouver Realtors reported 1,869 sales for the month, 20.7 per cent below the 10-year seasonal average. Andrew Lis, the board’s chief economist and vice-president of data analytics, said inventory has retreated from its 2025 highs, while slower-than-usual sales have caused prices to drift downward across market segments.
The composite benchmark price for all residential property types in Vancouver was $1,081,900, down 5.6 per cent from August 2025 and 0.6 per cent from July 2026.
There were 4,100 new listings in August, down three per cent year over year and 1.3 per cent below the 10-year average. Total inventory fell 2.7 per cent annually to 15,798 properties, although that remained 26.2 per cent above the long-term average.
