Planned power outages and roadwork may affect Richmond this week

Richmond residents may experience temporary power outages and traffic delays this week as scheduled BC Hydro work and construction projects take place across the city.

BC Hydro plans equipment work on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., affecting fewer than five customers at 8531 and 8551 Rosehill Dr. On Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., work is scheduled to affect 11 customers at 7011 No. 7 Rd., 15111 Williams Rd., and 8011, 8020, 8031 and 8040 Zylmans Way. Traffic signals at Zylmans and Blundell roads will also be affected.

Several paving, pole-replacement, underground-construction and sidewalk projects may affect traffic, including some lane closures. City water crews will conduct maintenance at 4611 Steveston Hwy. and new installation work at 12511 Westminster Hwy. on Monday, Sept. 21, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tree and vegetation removal on River Road between No. 6 Road and Burdette Street continues until Sept. 21, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Work near 5800 Granville Ave. runs from Monday, Sept. 21, to Dec. 1 on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; it includes a single eastbound lane on Granville Avenue, alternating traffic on Ledway Road, and a full Ledway Road closure from Sept. 24 to Oct. 9.

A watercourse-crossing culvert will be installed at 9500 No. 6 Rd. from Sept. 21 to 23, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fence installation is planned at 6011 River Rd., east of No. 2 Road, from Sept. 21 to 25, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rogers duct installation on Brown Road west of Sexsmith Road continues until Sept. 22, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The city parks department will prune median shrubs at 5233 Gilbert Rd., north of Lansdowne Road, from Sept. 22 to 24, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Rogers fibre-optic cable placement continues until Sept. 22 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Bridgeport Road between McLeod Avenue and McLennan Avenue, and on Bridgeport Road west of McLeod Avenue.
